We’re celebrating City of Forest Day! Come enjoy the 100 new baby trees at Lighthouse Park on Roosevelt Island as we celebrate our urban forest. All are welcome. Start the day at 11am with tree stewardship and a community compost mulching activity led by Gil Lopez from Big Reuse as we blanket our existing trees and enrich the soil. Enjoy a mid-day art activity with friends from Coler Hospital. Bring a blanket to settle in for a mesmerizing 45 minute dance performance from 2pm – 2:45pm by Jody Sperling’s Time Lapse troupe. Close the event with the teen-led Roosevelt Island Plogging Club for a healthy fresh air clean-up from 3 pm to 4 pm. We can’t wait to see you soon at the historic Lighthouse Park where water, land and sky come together.
Rain date is October 15.
