City of Forest Day in Inwood Hill Park!

October 14, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Volunteer Stewardship 10am-12pm. Join Friends of Inwood Hill Park to steward the inside of the forest of Inwood Hill! Local volunteers will lead you to our pollinator garden and begin by cleaning up some nearby litter, before trekking into the forest for some invasive plant species removal. Supplies will be provided, but limited, so please register. We will meet at the entrance of the park at Isham & Seaman.

There’s also an Autumn Mushroom Walk with Mycologist Paul Sadowski from 11am-1pm with NYC Parks, New York Mycological Society and the New York Botanical Garden!

Afterwards, please join us from Noon to 1:45pm for a “Benefits of the Urban Forest” hike through Inwood Hill with Ian Cleary of NY State’s DEC. And then join us later for “Forest Song,” a musical presentation conceived by local John Hasting at either 2pm-3pm or 4pm-5pm. More information will be posted on our website and social media. The hike at noon will begin and end near the public bathrooms.

All events are free of course, but registration is requested for the hikes and stewardship since supplies are limited.
